Free Maintenance Software

A large number of companies sell different types of maintenance software. As a result, customers are unable to decide which software would best cater to their needs. In order to help customers decide on a product best suited for their needs, many maintenance software companies offer free maintenance software online in the form of downloads.

These free maintenance software downloads are a diminutive version depicting what the more professional version can accomplish. These test versions can help companies in the simple tracking of asset, location and employee registers. They also help track down outstanding and completed work type, description, times and costs. Most free software available online are open source and therefore, a user can adapt its source code to suit his /her needs. However, these source codes are meant for internal use only and redistribution of these codes can cause legal problems for the parties involved.

In order to make use of these free maintenance software, users have to fill in a download form which is usually available on the software manufacturer?s web site. Some of the standard information sought by most companies, through the online forms on their websites are user’s name, name of the company he/she works for, e-mail, telephone number and country of residence. A few companies also ask for information about the type of software the user requires and the size of the organization in which it is to be implemented before beginning the downloading procedures. Users must read the terms and conditions mentioned thoroughly before beginning the download procedures.

A person accessing free maintenance software must realize that these downloads are short-term trial packs which expire after a certain time. They can be used on a small scale only. To be able to implement the software on a large scale, the users will have to buy the original software and implement it.

Excel Timesheet Software

For business owners to be able to maximize the benefits they could get from using timesheet software, it is very important for them to fully understand how to use the software. This is because knowing the different applications of the software would allow users to use these applications to perform a number of tasks that can help the company with its operations. Given this, business owners need to make sure that they get software that they could easily learn how to use.

Fortunately, there is quite a number of timesheet software that fit this criterion because there are some of them that are based on some of the most commonly used software by business owners. One example of this are the Excel based timesheet software, which are based on the MS Excel program found in most computers that run on Windows.

The most obvious advantage in using Excel based timesheet software is that most people are familiar with the Excel program, and almost anyone can use the software. This means that both business owners and their employees can get benefits from using the timesheet software as soon as they get the software. However, there are also other advantages in using Excel based timesheet software. One of these includes the fact that these kinds of programs are easy to customize, which can be very helpful for companies because they could “manipulate” the software for it to be able to fit the specific requirements of the company. Other advantages, which include some of the advantages that traditional timesheet software provide include the fact that the features of the software allow users of the software can keep track of the work hours that employees put in, their accounts receivables, their purchases, and their overall cash flow.

For business owners to maximize the benefits they could get out of using timesheet software, it is important for them to fully understand how to use the software. Today, there is a number of timesheet software that has been designed to be based on some of the more commonly used software, which includes MS Excel. As a result, business owners are given access to software that is easy to learn and use, which allow them to get the most out of the software.

It’s really shocking that there are music producers who use basic or even free music recording equipment and still achieve great results. So I’m going to cover the basic recording music equipment you need to get the best sound from your home studio. In order to get the most out of your computer music recording you need to go for the best quality music production equipment.

If you are on a shoe string budget but you have an important recording session, hiring top notch studio equipment is not a bad idea. The digital music production age has made a lot of music producers to do everything in the box. If you are recording music in the box you will need a professional audio software (find out more about that on my blog).

On this online music production lesson I’m going to focus on recording audio without a mixing desk, using the internal software mixer. If you are working inside the box you won’t need a mixing desk. But if you have outboard studio gear stick around you might learn a thing or two from these free music production tips.

And if you are using VST plug-ins you won’t need a mixer, you will only need it if you are using hardware synthesizers. You just need a good audio interface with a lot of inputs. Get yourself a valve pre amp to record rich vocals and guitars. Other audio interfaces come with built in pre amps. Use DSP headphone mixes from the soundcard if you need different headphone mixes. Getting a headphone amp can bring out a good vocal performance because the singer and the producer will be able to hear exactly what is being recorded.

You can also be able to add effects to encourage a great performance. But other audio interface come with a built in headphone amp. You must also get a pop filter, if you have a good budget go for nylon but you can get amazing results with metal pop filters. If you really need hi-end quality recordings you may get yourself analog to digital converters, but they are very expensive, and I wouldn’t recommend them for newbie’s.

Avoid using USB microphones, they may be good for recording a lecture but not a professional audio performance, and if you are on a very tight budget get one with no auto gain circuits and they must have solutions for monitoring. To get the most out of your pre amps you will need an accurate monitoring. Buy a good pair of monitors, and as a professional music producer, you also need a competent sound engineer to master your tracks.

Do your research first and read up reliable reviews before buying your ideal recording music equipment, and don’t waste money on poor gear.

In this generation computers have become a necessity in our everyday lives. We use computers at home and at work. The use of computers have made our daily lives easier in a great many ways. To name a few we can use email as opposed to physical mail; we can work from home and never see the office; we can pay bills online; we can chat with people online as opposed to in person or burning valuable cellular minutes. The list of things a computer can do is very extensive and is proving to be valuable in our everyday lives. When I think back to the time before email became popular, I say to myself how did I function without it?

The use of computers is so dominant now that even in our homes we have mini networks or if you’re a geek like me full networks set up in your home. This is because you use different computers for different things. For example you have a computer for home office use; a computer for gaming; a computer for the kids, and etcetera.

No matter what you use the computer for, they all have to be connected to the internet otherwise they are virtually useless. Therefore, you have set up all kinds of modern tech stuff like wireless routers and wireless access points. Peripherals are a necessity too especially if you work from home. Connected to your mini network you have a printer at minimum or maybe even an all in one for the convenience.

With all this modern technology, the only time you need to leave the comfort of home is when you just feel like getting out. Everything else you can do with a computer!

One of the biggest expenses that any enterprise faces is the purchase of new technical equipment. Given the cash flow crunch in most small businesses, outright purchase of new equipment might not be feasible. Added to that is the fact that computers and other technological equipment quickly become obsolete. A growing small business may need to refresh its technology in some areas every eighteen months, but investing in the latest gadgetry may be beyond its means. In such a situation, is leasing the best way out?

We’ve put together a primer of the advantages and disadvantages of leasing technical equipment and also the factors you need to consider before making the decision.

Advantages:

- Leasing technical equipment offers you a way to keep it up-to-date. Computer technology becomes outdated sooner than you know. With a lease, you do not have to worry about that. For example, let’s say you have a two-year lease on a printer. Once that lease expires, you can lease the latest version of that printer.
- You will have predictable monthly expenses. You will know exactly how much you have to pay each month, and that can help you budget more effectively.
- Many small businesses struggle with cash flow and because leases rarely require a down payment, you can acquire new equipment without tapping into your precious funds. Instead, that cash can be deployed in marketing, advertising or other functions that can help grow your business.
- Leasing technical equipment can enable your small business to acquire sophisticated technology such as a voice over internet protocol (VoIP) phone system, which might not be affordable otherwise.

Disadvantages:

- Leasing is almost always more expensive than purchasing, especially if it’s long term. You pay more in the end because when you add up the monthly payments, the total will invariably be higher than the actual cost of the equipment.
- Some leases may have strict terms which require you to make payments for the entire contracted lease period even if you wish to return the equipment earlier.

Before you make the decision about leasing technical equipment for your small business, here are a few factors that you would do well to consider:

o Type of lease – There are two types to choose from: a capital lease or an operating lease. A capital lease is similar to a loan. The equipment that you lease is considered an asset on your balance sheet, and you take the benefits such as tax depreciation and risks including obsolescence of ownership. With an operating lease, the leasing company retains ownership, and for tax purposes, the equipment is considered a monthly operating expense rather than a depreciable asset. Operating leases are generally more popular among small businesses because they don’t tie up funds and are usually short-term.
o Buyout option – There are two options available to you – a fair-market value (FMV) option and a $1 buyout option. FMV means you can buy the equipment at the end of the lease at its fair-market value. A $1 buyout option means the equipment is yours for $1 when the lease expires. The monthly payments on FMV leases are usually lower than on $1 buyout leases.
o The length of the lease – Typical leases for computer equipment run 24, 36 or 48 months. The longer your lease, the lower your monthly payments will be, but you are also likely to pay more over time with a longer lease.
o Insurance for the equipment – Some leasing companies require you to insure the leased equipment. If not, a charge may be added to your monthly payment to cover the cost of insurance.
o Termination options – You may not need the equipment you are leasing after a point or you might want to upgrade to newer technology sooner than you expected. Find out if you can pay off your lease early, and if there’s a prepayment penalty.

The main criteria while leasing technical equipment should be whether you can afford to tie up a large amount of cash which could otherwise be used to establish or grow the business. Consider the pros the cons of leasing and figure out how it will affect the running of your business before you make that call.

If you own a business and you have the need for computers, then you may be wondering what your options are as far as acquiring the computer equipment. There are two options that you can consider, computer leasing and finance. You should educate yourself on the pros and cons of leasing vs financing.

If you decide to finance computers, you will need to get some type of loan to finance the equipment. This means that you will have a line of credit extended to you, either through your bank, or some other financing source. The downside of financing is that it ties up some of your working capital and leaves you with less lines of credit to work with. Also, you will keep the computers until you pay them off through the payment plan that is set up when you originally finance the computers.

As you well know, technology advances rapidly. If you finance a large amount of computers at one time, you will end up having those computers for at least a couple of years, maybe more.

A big difference between computer leasing and finance is that when leasing equipment such as computers, you may have the option to get new computers on a regular basis, as you are only leasing them, not paying them out on a finance plan to eventually gain ownership of the computers.

Another difference is that if you have to acquire a loan to finance the computers you want to purchase, you most likely will have to put down some sort of down payment. This is not the case with leasing. In a leasing agreement, everything is normally one hundred percent funded, and no down payment or money up front will be required.

Your best course of action, if you are considering whether to choose computer leasing or finance for your business needs, is to thoroughly research what each option requires of you. It all depends on if you are wanting to actually buy the computers over a period of time, or if you would like to have the option of replacing the computers with newer models periodically.

You might be sitting there reading this Internet Marketing article on a brand ******** new computer system that lets you zip through websites and files at astronomical speeds. Unfortunately for some, that’s not the case.

Not only are they working from a computer system that freezes up and is plagued by viruses, but their connection to the online world is still set at dial-up speed. If this describes you, then you may want to consider investing in your upgraded computer equipment and tools for 2010 as a way to further your business growth.

Many top marketers have several computers set up on one desk so that they can multi-task. You don’t have to go that route (and some experts even say those who multi-task actually get less work done because their focus is split).

But you do need the bare minimum of essentials to help you make progress throughout the day. You can work on a desktop or a laptop computer. Many marketers have one of each – using the laptop for travel and daytime excursions so that they’re never out of touch for long with their business.

You need something with enough memory so that your system isn’t sluggish. If you have a virus, or more vulnerabilities, then you need to focus the beginning on 2010 on cleaning up your system that you don’t risk losing your hard work or worse – infecting others with it.

If you’re committing to a routine schedule for 2010, such as investing 8 hours a day into your business, then set aside a workspace in your home or apartment. It doesn’t have to be a whole room – it can be a corner of a room, but make it for work purposes only.

Do you need a fax and printer? Maybe not. You may only need the software that helps you make graphics or convert text into PDF files. This will depend on what business model you pursue.

If it’s available in your area, upgrade your dial-up to a higher speed connection. This is well worth the additional expense because you’ll get more work done, faster, so you’ll see a return on your investment quickly.

For some people, upgrading their computer equipment for 2010 may not be feasible right after the 2009 holidays. But you can plan for it and begin saving for it little by little instead of just accepting the fact that you’re chained to an outdated system for the entire year.

Hard Drive Recovery Equipment

Today the world revolves around the computer. From homes and offices to schools, airports and hospitals, computers have become an integral and indispensable part of our daily lives.

One of the foremost uses of computers is data storage. Data stored on the computer resides on a physical memory disk known as the hard drive that is a layer of magnetic disks. As people become increasingly dependant on computers, the risk of data loss also surfaces.

Hard drive crashes are a common occurrence. They are classified into two categories — logical and physical. While the logical aspect deals with failure of the file system and software, the physical aspect is related to some sort of electrical or shock damage to the disk. However, modern technology allows us to recover up to 80% of the lost data, thereby allaying some of the fear related to hard drive recovery.

Hard drive recovery, whether physical or logical, is a complex process and requires expert help in most cases. Special equipment and tools are necessary to carry out this process successfully. A functional computer with the necessary software is the primary equipment required for any hard drive recovery process. Data backup devices such as CD recorders, external hard drives and CD and DVD media are also used while recovering data from a damaged hard drive.

If the hard drive has suffered physical failure, proper electronic knowledge and equipment is a must. A soldering iron might prove useful when working on a damaged circuit board. Advanced tools such as magnetometers may also be used to physically extract lost bits from the magnetic media. These bits are used to rebuild a disk image.

In addition to the hands-on equipment required, certain other precautions must be taken. The hard drive, when removed, should be wrapped in anti-static material. The drive should be well cushioned to prevent further damage. Finally, the recovery process should take place in a ?Class 100 Clean Room? to avoid any contamination by dust.

You can now do your bit to prevent global warming by buying a greener, cleaner computer. Here is how -

Tip #1 -Buy Laptops, Not Desktops

Purchase a laptop instead of a full fledged desktop. It is a known fact that notebooks are more eco-friendly than desktops. This is because laptops -

- Require 70% less energy than desktops

- Also generate lesser heat in comparison to desktops

- Using the ‘hiberate’ function in laptops is simpler than in desktops. Ergo, a hibernating laptop also consumes lesser power than desktops.

Tip #2 – SFF (Small Form Factor) Desktops Are Also Greener

Consider SFF (Small Form Factor) desktops if you cannot buy a laptop. These are manufactured by companies such as Apple and are smaller in size, consuming substantially lesser energy than larger sized desktops.

Tip #3 – Prevent Global Warming by Buying Energy Star Compliant Computer Equipment

Buy computer equipment that are complaint with the Energy Star program. This is an international standard given to PCs and laptops that are energy efficient. Ensure that any computer equipment you purchase are Energy Star compliant. Also, aim to buy any computer equipment that hogs lesser electricity.

Tip #4 – Buy LCD, not CRT Monitors

Buy an LCD monitor instead of a CRT. A flat screen LCD monitor consumes lesser space and is also roughly 50% more energy efficient in comparison to the old fashioned CRT monitors.

Tip #5 – Buy EPEAT Registered Computer Equipment

Computer equipment selected by EPA’s Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) are more eco friendly because they contain less hazardous materials. The European Union has issued the RoHS – Restriction of Hazardous Substances and all equipment that is RoHS compliant use recyclable material.

So if we all purchase EPEAT registered PCs then we can help prevent global warming. We can eliminate 4 million pounds of hazardous waste over the next 5 years. We’ll also help save more than 2 million megawatt of energy – that’s required to power up about 2 million homes!

Tip #6 – Buy 80 plus PSU (Power Supply Units)

80 Plus PSU saves 80% more energy than regular ones. Such PSUs don’t produce too much heat and therefore don’t require a fan. This results a cleaner, greener PC which is also quieter and is more stable.

Tip #7 – Buy Multi Core Processors

Did you know that the Intel Core 2 Duo processors are 40% faster and 40% more energy efficient? Aim to buy such processors if you wish to use a green PC

Tip #8 – Buy Low End Video Cards to Prevent Global Warming

Fancy video cards hog more than 100 watts of electricity so opt for an integrated on-board graphics card.

Tip #9 – Buy a Green OS (Operating System)

Actually, most good OS will allow you to put your system on standby or on hibernate mode. This consumes lesser power than switching it on and off. So ensure that the software you buy is also green.

Tip #10 – Buy Green but Also Re-Use and Recycle

You can re-use your computer equipment instead if discarding them, for example, reuse old laptop keypads as keyboards if the laptop screen is on the blink. Rule of thumb is to use your laptop batteries as little as possible so that it lasts longer and need not be discarded frequently.

Also, visit forums like Green Questions and Answers to know more about this.

Prevent global warming by recycling as much as possible, for example, giveaway old monitors to charitable institutes or to the needy, etc.
